Extremely fresh Mexican with a wide range of offerings. The Fajitas Tres Chicken and beef fajitas with bacon-wrapped shrimp filled with monterey jack cheese and jalapeÃ±o was the bomb - especially the bacon-wrapped shrimp, wish they had this on the menu by itself! The atmosphere leads itself very well to a great date night suggestion. And like most places, a decent HH offering.

Typical mex chain restaurant - some highs, some lows. Highs - chips, guac, and dessert Chips are light and delicious, salsas very good ('hot' had a nice chipotle flavor; mild was somewhat chunky with fresh cilantro) Table side guacamole was really good and had a nice flavor (cumin and lime ratio was purrfect) Brownie dessert was AWESOME - huge chunk of tall moist brownie served on a hot skillet (like fajita's), topped with scoop of ice cream and covered with an awesome brandy butter sauce that caramelized on the skillet - num!) Server was very friendly Lows - entrees Pricey, bland, and small portion sizes I ordered enchiladas - got 1 Veracruz (chicken, spinach, cheese with tomatillo sauce) and 1 chicken Mole. The mole was very thick and dark brown but oddly had very little flavor - no chocolate, no cinnamon, no chili - just thick brown sauce. The tomatillo was also very flavor-less and there was barely any on the enchilada. Bonus points for white chicken meat. These 2 small bland enchiladas, 1/4 cup of not good mex rice, and 1/4 cup of sauteed zuchini for $14.50. Way too expensive for portion size and taste. BF ordered Barbacoa Tacos - 3 very small tacos with a few pieces of super bland mushy barbacoa and mushy cooked onions - blech - served with 1/2 cup of over-salted black beans and 1/4 cup of the same yucko mex rice for $14.50.

Blah, if you enjoy half rate Mexican food and want to pay more money than it's worth. Then this place is for you. Everything is over priced and not worth the money you pay. The food doesn't match the price tag you are paying. The plates are hotter than the food is. I'll take a hole in the wall Mexican place any day over this place.

This is a review of the bar, not the restaurant. My hubby and I have made Cantina our "go-to" bar. It's in the Wiregrass Mall and has stiff competition. We used to frequent the Brass Tap right next door, but Cantina has an excellent happy hour and a wider selection of drinks. We go to GrillSmith sometimes too, but usually wind up here. First, the Margaritas. They will knock you on your ass. Very tasty and very strong. $5 all day Monday, 4-7pm all other weekdays and Saturday 11-5. On Sunday it's Mimosas and Bloody Mary's for $2. I mean, c'mon. You can't beat this. Oh, and did I mention the unlimited free chips and salsa? I love the chips. They are very thin and crispy, not chewy like in some places. Two different salsas: one hot and one mild. Both are tasty. The bar menu is great. Absolutely excellent Guacamole, made to order at the bar (and table in the restaurant). We usually order the flatbreads or the Tuna tacos. Both are very good though the taco order a bit small. The bar staff is friendly and knows their stuff. Maddy was great but has since moved. Randall is a ball of fire. Moves so fast he's almost a blur. Always has a smile for everyone. Rachel is also very nice. These folks know how to keep their customers happy. And we'll keep going back!

I have been to this establishment for happy hour on a few other occasions and while in the area I decided to stop by to use one of my birthday freebies for a free dessert. Well it just so happened that I got off work early and had not had lunch so I was hungry and ready for some good food. Since I timed it perfectly for happy hour I also was feenin' for their signature margarita and it was my lucky day because Thursdays happen to be ladies night so I got a full size margarita for $4 instead of the mini I was anticipating on the happy hour menu for $3. If you know me at all happy hours make me happy because I am able to get good food and drink at a good price so I was in heaven and I had just walked in the door. I started with the margarita and complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa was flavorful. The margarita was as good as I remembered and perfectly hit the spot. I chose the frozen margarita so the the cold beverage was refreshing after being in the heat. During happy hour several items on the bar menu including tacos are half off. It was difficult making decisions because so many of the items looked good. The bartender was no help because he confirmed my impression by stating all of the items I was considering were some of his favorites too. He was suppose to help me decide not make it harder, thanks for nothing. In that moment I was wishing I had been dining with friends so I could've just ordered and tried them all. Eventually I decided on the sopes which is a corn cake topped with the carnita, goat cheese and jalapeno. It's a tapa so its served with three mini cakes but since I was dining alone it was sufficient as a meal. I also planned to eat dessert anyway so it was essential I not be too stuffed. The sopes were delicious. The carnita was very flavorful. The cornmeal cakes were a bit dense and I wouldn't eat them alone but they were good in the composed dish. This was a great recommendation. As I mentioned I completed my visit with dessert. I ordered the brownie a la mode. The brownie was served on a hot skillet with a hot caramel sauce poured over it table side. The ice cream on top melted atop the sizzling hot brownie. The presentation was so impressive that many other guests inquired about it and even ordered it themselves. Although beautiful in appearance i thought the brownie was just ok. It was very dry actually with the exclusion of the places moistened by the sauce. The flavor was not a rich as I prefer and was only desirable when eaten with the sauce and ice cream in concert. The most disappointing part of my experience was the service. Although the bartender was polite and helpful, the service was very slow. They definitely should have had more assistance as he was bartending for the whole bar and serving the tables in the bar area which included running the food from the kitchen himself. I spent over 2 hours in the restaurant and I had 1 drink, 1 appetizer and dessert. This is ok if that was my desire but just wanted to grab a quick bite and a drink after work. Despite the weaknesses in service I'm anxious to go back with friends to try more of the menu.

As part of our post-Holiday shopping extravaganza (OMG It's a SALE!!!!), I made the drive up to the Shops at Wiregrass for an afternoon of walking, laughing, and spending money. This outdoor mall has a different collection of shops from what we normally see in Tampa, and so it was definitely worth the drive to go somewhere new. Unfortunately the mall has a number of uninspiring chain eateries, so we were glad to spot Cantina Laredo as a place for lunch. Now to be fair, Cantina Laredo is also a part of a family of Modern Mexican restaurants based in Dallas, however there are only four locations in Florida, and this is the only one in the Tampa area. Yay for justifications! :-) Cantina Laredo specializes in Mexico City-style cuisine which includes grilled seafood, chicken, and steaks complimented by specialty sauces such as chipotle-wine with Portobello mushrooms, or sautÃ©ed artichoke hearts and roasted red bell peppers. The menu looked high-end with a number of choices not normally seen in traditional Mexican places. You can choose to sit outdoors on the private patio, or move it inside to the air conditioned comfort. The restaurant and lounge were very sleek and modern, and spotlessly-clean. Our server was quick to deliver a silver serving dish of warm tortilla chips and two signature dipping sauces. One was a salsa made from roasted tomatoes and peppers for a rich, earthy flavor. The other salsa was kicked up by the addition of several different peppers to give a very tasty flavor profile before you broke out in a sweat. Also on our table was a silver dish holding an avocado and a lime, and a little tent card describing their tableside guacamole preparation. Oh yes, bring it on! In addition to the traditional tacos and enchiladas, you'll find a number of vegetarian and gluten-free options, and some new specialty dishes including a spinach - mushroom enchilada served with Jack cheese, an avocado - artichoke enchilada served with spinach, or a taco filled with grilled Portobello mushrooms in a balsamic glaze with goat cheese and roasted red peppers. Sure you'll pay a bit more for this type of healthy eating, but I doubt that you'll be making a "run for the border" later in the afternoon. *coughs delicately* I tried the lump crabmeat enchilada with spicy chili de arbol cream sauce on a bed of marinated vegetables, and declared this dish a big success. I was told that they make a kick-a$$ margarita with top-shelf tequila, but since I needed to keep an eye on my charge cards I decided to stay with ice water. Cantina Laredo has a more extensive dinner menu with seasoned and grilled meats and seafood. They also have a Sunday Brunch from 11am - 3pm, and a special New Year's Eve menu which will include mucho tequila and Mexican yumminess. This was a big hit, and a welcome change from typical mall food.

2 stars because....Ehhh, it's alright but definitely not worth the price. Recently came here after work for ladies night (half price margaritas on Thursday) Which is the only night margaritas are reasonably priced. Table side Guacamole didn't have much flavor and for 10 dollar Guac, it should have been amazing. I also ordered chicken fajita nachos. Again not much flavor and the chips were burnt but they did come in a large enough portion to share. A friend ordered the Ahi tuna tacos. The menu describes them as mini sushi tacos. Turns out Mini means bite sized. She was still hungry. Service was unreasonably slow. For example, the server took my glass to refill it and didn't come back for 15 minutes. At these prices, if you don't have great food, you HAVE to have great service. In summary: there are better places to go, even in Pasco county.

Cantina Laredo dubs itself as gourmet Mexican food. My first thought? Why does Mexican have to be gourmet. For years I've survived just nicely without. My second thought? I love Mexican so...why not? Let's give it a go. Cantina Laredo was a gigantic mixed bag for me. There were some good. There was some bad. I'll start with the good. I liked that they made the guacamole in front of you. That's cool, you can't get any fresher than that. It also made it possible to cater it towards my tastes. Me...I hate cilantro. Abhor it. So I asked them to leave it out and they did. The chips that are served free of charge aren't bad, especially when paired with the restaurant's spicy salsa. The chips/salsa combo easily became one of the highlights of the night. My main course, an artichoke dish, was certainly unique and "gourmet". It was okay, there was nothing particularly memorable about it. So what's the bad? Prices. Man these were outrageous. As fun as it is to watch them make the guacamole, I don't want to pay for that experience and I must have. I mean I've made guacamole in my kitchen hundreds of times and it doesn't cost anywhere near what the Cantina charges. While my dish was okay it was, again, not worth the price. My other problem with this place is the lack of vegetarian and vegan options. It was hard for me to find something I wanted to eat. When I asked about having the dairy removed, the waitress didn't seem to have any clue how to make that happen. I think my dish wound up being vegan, but I can't be sure. I don't like leaving a place feeling like that. With all the vegan friendly restaurant options in the Wiregrass Mall area, Cantina Laredo won't be something that will become a part of our regular rotation. I need my Mexican to taste good. Not to be gourmeh.

Amazing enchiladas de cangrejo! Delicious and fragrant mimosa! The food and previous service jas never disappointed. Until, today. I treated myself to a nice lunch. I guess that's why the service was poor. The hostess was more hospitable than the waitress was. Just because I'm dining alone for lunch, does not mean you don't have to check on me during my meal and then rush me at the end. Simply asking if I would like dessert or the check is just rude and bad service. I wanted dessert, but opted for the check because she didn't seem like she wanted to do her job today.

Never has a bad experience. Fresh guacamole made at your table with fresh tortilla chips and two side of salsa. Great dinner specials along with drink specials. There is a happy hour and I think lady's night on thursdays. Great out door dog friendly patio. Open in house seating and bar. Several tv's at the bar area. Casual attire and good customer service. I really enjoy this place. Yummy yummy!!

I always enjoy this Americanized establishment of Mexican cuisine because of the high quality food I eat. Honestly I'm never too impressed with the smaller scale/ more authentic Mexican restaurants like Vallartas. They just have larger portions for cheaper prices. Laredos pack better and more delicious flavors everytime I dine here. For starters, I always order the guacamole appetizer. As an avocado fan, it's nearly perfect except last time there was a bit too much jalapeÃ±o for me and I was unable to enjoy the whole bowl. The house chips complement the guac and house salsas very well. My usual order are the basic enchiladas. I don't know why but I just really enjoy their taste and textures. I get the chicken, beef, and the cheese & onion. The rice is okay but I've never been a fan of yellow/orange rice. Finally it's always hard for me to pass up the Mexican Apple pie dessert. The server brings it out, sizzling, on a small black pan (similar to fajitas). They then drizzle this creamy goodness on top and all around to get a delicious caramelization of flavors going. And to literally top it off, some cinnamon ice cream is added to create a yin & yang/fire & ice combination of ultimate goodness. The only restaurant I ever go to where I order a full three course meal!

Went here for brunch with my best friend while on vacation and had a great time. The atmosphere was great and the bartender, who was also our waiter, was fantastic - albeit inattentive. We arrived just after they opened and were seated in the bar area. Our server recommended some brunch items - I got the huevos divorciados (highly recommended) and my friend got the chicken enchiladas (her favorite). We each got a bloody Maria, and our server asked how spicey we liked them and customized them perfectly. As the restaurant got busier, our server seemed to forget we were there and my water sat empty for over 30 minutes. Aside from that- a great time and would go back!

One of my fav foods (who am I kidding, I like it all) is Spanish food. The only unique thing about this restaurant was the two home made salsas, but def not worth the price of a taco, let alone an entire meal. 2 people it cost $60 and we both had 3 taco's each plus a drink.

I had previously posted my review about Cantina Laredo and was very candid about the service being sub-par while the food was outstanding. We have been back several times since that posting, and I am very impressed by how the comments and feedback I provided was taken to heart and addressed. The service has improved tremendously and the staff is attentive to their customers. There has been such a significant change that I decided to come back and update my review based off of the fact we have returned numerous times and watched the transformation. Great job to the staff and management! The food is still over the top excellent! This is one of the few places we can get ceviche and a nice assortment of tacos! While I am all about the fish- my husband loves his carne and we have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we have tried. During happy hour (in the bar area) they have an appetizer menu that is half off and the prices cannot be beat- especially considering the quality of food. While I don't recall ceviche on the happy hour menu- they do have all of our favorite taco options :0) - happy camper- right here. Due to the improvements- I stand by my new rating and promise you will not be disappointed! Again- great job Cantina Laredo!

This place has totally gone downhill. The inside smells to high heaven, the food is subpar and the staff is just going through the motions. I left my credit card there on a Wednesday. Called Thursday and the manager told me it wasn't there. I knew I had left it so I popped in. My waiter from the day before told me it was there somewhere...but when the manger came back up he told me it wasn't there. I demanded he check again and then I was told that I needed to wait for another manager arrive because he knew where it was. What!?! With so many choices in places to eat in this area, don't waste your time on this one.

By far the best meal I have ever had. Listen, my boyfriend and I go out to eat for almost EVERY meal. We try new places all the time, but we of course have our favorites. We got a gift card here, so we tried it out, it was a drive for us(about 45 mins) but it was worth every mile. Before we could even finish sitting down at the bar, a server came up and placed chips and salsa in front of us. Then we got the best Casa Rita Margaritas! $5 for Happy Hour! Best drinks ever. Then we got the tableside guac which was SO fresh and just absolutely amazing. For our meals, I ordered the Veracruz which was by far the best meal I have ever had. My bf got what was recommended by our bartender Randall. It was Carnitas fajitas, and let me tell you, I don't eat any meat other than chicken and I had 6 bites of that pork. We were just blown away with everything from start to finish and will most definitely be back more often. Its so great to finally find a place where the service is as good as the food!

They were full of flavor and came with guacamole, sour cream and Pico. It was all wonderful. For dessert we tried the apple pie, and it did not disappoint! I give it 3 stars because it is way over-priced and the hostess was a little snot. My husband and I walk in, and she doesn't say a word to us. Isn't that "Hostessing 101", greet patrons as they enter the restaurant? Not a word from her just a look of indifference. So I said, two please. She shows us to our table and that's that. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive and explained some of the dishes to us. However, one look at the menu and we knew we weren't going to find what we really wanted. Okay, I guess "gourmet Mexican food" isn't for us. Everything was fresh, the chips and salsa, and our entrees, but just not the flavors or entrees we are used to. We could have gone down the street and still have gotten fresh and paid about a third of what we paid here. The cheapest margaritas on a Saturday night are $8 and $9, and we enjoyed one each. The interior and ambience was very nice, lots of conversations going on, but you could still hear the people at your own table. We won't go back, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who will.

I've been here once before and felt like it was a little pricy for what we ordered. The boys wanted something different so we gave it a second go. What I liked: the salads are in the $12-14 range and are ridiculously huge! I got the cilantro lime salad - it was delicious. Et dressing on the side because you WILL have leftovers. We also ordered guac that is made table side. Very fresh and the chips are thin and delicious - and not overly salted). The kids meals were reasonably priced and were good portions. We also ordered a slice of mango cake. It was amazing and plenty for me + my two boys. What didn't I like? Service is a bit slow, especially with kids in tow. The waitress forgot about us at one point and seemed very rushed when she was making our guac. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but will keep us from coming back with the kids - which is almost always unfortunately.

I'm thoroughly disappointed in this location. My husband and I went around 2pm. The restaurant was literally empty. We sat for 20 minutes at our table and no one EVER came. We moved to the bar in hopes of being acknowledged. Nope. We waited another 5 minutes and nothing. The bartender was too busy talking to the ONE other couple there about how much money she makes working there. Wah?? How unprofessional! On our way out we asked to speak with a manger. Not because we wanted to stay, but because we wanted to save the next patron that would come in after us. Another 5 minutes went by and that asshole never came out to speak to us so alas, we left and went somewhere else. THIS LOCATION is a sore disappointment. I've been a long, loyal fan of this place and even spent $8K on them to cater my wedding (the Palm Beach location where the employees aren't totally inept). Please fire everyone currently working there and start from scratch, corporate.

My experience at Cantina Laredo was definitely 5 star worthy. I came here with my son for brunch, and they had just opened their doors for the day. I loved the classy look of this restaurant and was excited to see what their food looked like. The wait staff was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful, especially to my little guy. She told us all about the brunch menu and I was sold. I went with the Crab Cakes Benedict and it was one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had. The crab cakes are topped with poached eggs and a chipotle-wine hollandaise sauce. They're just as amazing as they sound. Along with the crab cakes came drool-worthy hashbrowns and cute little tortilla cup covered in cinnamon sugar and filled with fresh fruit. And brunch came with a complimentary Mimosa as well. So good! Sorry I don't have a picture for you, but I enjoyed it so much it was gone before I thought to get out my camera.

There are very few higher end Mexican style restaurants in Tampa, this one does a very good job! This is not a cheese covered dive, they use top ingredients and produce quality food! Based on one meal and one dish, this place was, as yelp would have it, woohoo! We had a chicken enchilada and a sea bass special. The drinks were good and meh (the white sangria was good, the mojito meh). The chips / salsa / guac were good, but nothing earth shattering. What was earth shattering was the sea bass special. The fish was cooked perfectly. It had a great texture and the sauce was nice. The enchilada was good, but it's just an enchilada. We had the tres leches cake for dessert, and it was a rare tres leches cake that was very, very good. I do agree with some of the reviewers - service could be better. Go for the food. It's worth the trek.

I went to Wiregrass Mall today to get a battery for my watch and as I was walking by I saw many eateries but being that I love Mexican food I spotted Cantina Laredo and almost passed it by . I saw the menu and I changed my mind because they offered many items that I really enjoy . I went in and was instantly greeted and sat down Chips and salsas were presented and menu was dropped . I picked the seafood ceviche and Tacos a la Barbacoa which included Rice and beans . All was presented in a timely manner and the food was delicious . I cannot complain , the flavors were there and the colors made your mouth water . I took pictures and added them to my Facebook Page . For dessert I had Tres Leches cake which was to die for the flavors made my tongue squeal with pleasure . True the place was at lunch and it was quiet not packed ,even the mall was quiet so I was glad to have a server who gave me much attention and made the lunch spectacular . I sent my compliments to the kitchen . I had no alcohol because I was Driving but had Iced Tea which was my only complaint , very weak but the refills were on the house . I would go there again as everything was in order and did have a splendid time . Thank you Cantina Laredo.

While shopping at Wiregrass recently with my mother and teenage niece we decided to grab a bite to eat at Cantina Laredo. First impression walking into the restaurant was that it was not a typical Mexican restaurant as far as dÃ©cor and staff. I loved the small touch of having a bowl of avocados (fake) sitting on the table to let you know that they obviously make their guacamole tableside. So of course we ordered that to start our meal but we requested more cilantro as they were not going to add very much. And I did notice that they avocados were actually past their perfect ripe point and probably shouldn't be used but my niece had never seen this and was fascinated but the experience so I didn't mention anything to their server. My mother and I shared the chicken/steak fajitas which were very tasty, however the amount of meat we received was not a lot at all and there was only 3 small pieces of steak (which was for my mom). My niece got a chicken enchilada that she LOVED. I took a bite of hers because it appeared that the chicken was one large piece so I was expecting it to be over cooked due to the size. I can honestly say for this type of entrÃ©e I have never had a piece of chicken so moist and juicy. It was perfect. Overall, lunch was good, not worth the price tag for the amount we got. I can't see myself going back there to be frank, but it's not some place that I would tell people to stay away from.

No Reservation = No Way! We were told our wait would be 20 minutes because we did not have a reservation. As I walked through the dining room to the ladies room, I counted 18 open tables. When I asked the hostess about it she said that's why you need to call ahead. Next I approached the manager who was even ruder. We really wanted Mexican food, so we decided to wait. Unfortunately, the wait turned into 40 minutes and then the food was lack-luster. The mild salsa was HOT because the chef neglected to remove the seeds from the peppers. When we asked our server, he said "Oh that's interesting." The onions in the enchiladas were totally raw. The "grilled mixed veggies" were zucchini mixed with zucchini. Corporate needs to send in some help...NOW!

Hyped as gourmet Mexican Food I was interested. Upon entering there was nothing "Mexican" about the place. Very nice plain non descript dÃ©cor, nothing Mexican about it. oh, wait there was a basket of limes on the bar, Mexican I guess. The complimentary chips were good and included dips. The food was way beyond salty and inconsistent. Two tacos were served one had a good amount of meat the other almost none. Their Torta De Carnitas has a fried egg on top, the highlight, but the white was runny and uncooked. When I questioned it the waiter, who was also the bar tender, said the yolk was supposed to be runny, that I knew, the white was less than half cooked. It was returned to the kitchen and came back "over easy" very imaginative. The Enchilada Veracruz was extremely salty and otherwise just Ok. Calling the food gourmet and charging crazy high prices does not make it so.

Excellent! From the get go we were impressed. Clean, upscale. Nice atmosphere. We started off with the chips and salsa, standard. Both salsas were great. I am a fan of spice so the darker hit the spot for myself. For drink I got the Cabo flip..... Well make that TWO! Perfect. It came with an inside out lime filled with tequila...... Need I say more?! The last 3 times we have attempted to eat at the bar the service has been SO slow, the last time we actually left. Having only 1 bartender for that huge area is NOT working - even 2 would be a stretch given the volume at the service bar (margaritas, bloody marys, wines, etc..). We love this place - the food is excellent - and the chips and salsa as well. We used to go to a location in W Palm for years. But the WC location can't figure it out. Even past experiences at tables here - the service is always slow. In fact, out of the 6-7 last times here, we always end up sitting and waiting for something - drinks, chips, to order, the bill...anytime of day/night..bar/table. Such a shame. We would be eating here once a week if the service problems were worked out. Not all of us are snowbirds or on island time - there are a lot of working people in WC and we need to get in and get out! PLEASE add more staff and train them properly - this is a first class chain with excellent food, you need to do better.

Love love love this place. The guacamole is a must have, the margaritas are generous and definitely not made from a strange concoction of artificial flavors - hooray! - there is actual lime juice in them! Me and my husband have been there 10-15 times and have never had a disappointing dish, from the salads to the tamales...absolutely fantastic! The service is not necessarily outstanding, but it is decent. If you haven't tried this restaurant, I encourage you to, I live in the area but would be worth the drive from other parts of town.

I had the Fiesta de la Parrilla which had shrimp, quail, carnitas, beef, and chicken served with four fajita tortillas. The meat was good. It just didn't blow my mind away. The portion is huge. My favorite meat was the carnitas. It was very tender and juicy. The rest were average. We also had their freshly made guacamole. It was good except the waiter who made ours was his first time, so it came out pretty chunky and wasn't mixed well. I also had the brownie dessert which was good except they serve it on a hot skillet so when the ice cream is placed on top it quickly melts. It becomes a race to see how much you can stuff in your face before the skillet melts your ice cream... I lost that race... The service was pretty bad. Slow to get drinks, slow to get food out, wasn't very professional or attentive at all. We had to keep searching for a waiter to get us drinks or chips. The food is okay, atmosphere is nice, service is poor, prices are too high.

This is a good restaurant with Mexican food mixed with the upscale appeal of a nice place. This service is OK, the People aren't always that friendly and I would probably give them 3 stars but the food makes up for it and so I'm giving them four stars. AMAZING! I have been here a few times and its always simply great. I have no idea what the other people in these reviews are talking about. They have to be elitist or something and by something I mean fucking silly whiners. I was in shock to see 2.5 stars for this place? The ambiance is warn and beautiful. every server I have ever had there has been really on top of everything. The food is spectacular! they will even make you things that arent on the menu and make fresh guakamole at the table for you! not expensive at all and one of my favorite places! I completely recommend that you not only go here but ignore any bad reviews about this place! The apple pie dessert is the best!

I feel after reading the other "excellent" reviews, that we must have been at another Cantina Laredo because I can barely give this review a two star. We stood up front waiting for a hostess. Was greeted and seated quickly. Was very empty so we can't figure out why our service turned out to be so slow. Sat around waiting for our drinks to be refilled. $2.80 for tea. It's getting ridiculous to drink out. When you sit outside, your ice tends to melt quicker, but my tea and daughter's water came out with barely any ice to begin with. Chips and queso with some greasy ground beef, onions and tomato a bit over priced for $10. I ordered the mahi tacos, and my daughter ordered marinated beef taco. My fish was dry and flavorless on 2 mini rubbery taco shells. Not sure what kind of green rice we had. Guess it's "gourmet". That didn't have much flavor either. Beans were ok. $36 for 2 people. If I was the waiter, I would have noticed that we barely touched our meals and asked if there was something wrong. I saw someone else's review that said this is by far the best Mexican food in Tampa.They must not get out much. Long waits for drinks and food seemed to be all around us. People are here to shop during the day. We want to get in and out not have a long sit down dinner that lacks creativity and flavor and empties our wallets. Try one of the other restaurants at Wiregrass, leave this one at the border

I don't know what was wrong with the people who reviewed before me, but this place is EXCELLENT!!!! Maybe you guys need a few drinks, LOL! A little bit pricey yes, but my philosophy is you truly get what you pay for! My fiance had the mojito and I had the mango margarita...both perfect and I had the beef fajita tacos and my fiance had the brisket tacos....awesome and then to top it off we had the sizzling Apple pie with cinnamon ice cream and rum sauce....what a way to top off an amazing meal! This place has my vote and we will be back!! The only thing I can say is "bad" is that it is a little pricey but food is excellent.

Great authentic tasting Mexican food. Guacamole is freshly made at table side. If you get to choose your server I recommend Mattie. She is awesome I wish I could take her to every restaurant I eat at. My drink was never empty and chips always filled. Very pleasant and courteous.

Love this restaurant. The carne asada awesome and the chips and salsa are excellent. Only downside is drinks are a bit pricey, ($10 mojito?!?) and the guacamole appetizer, while excellent, is $10 just for guacamole and chips. Yes it's made from scratch but it's still just a smashed avacado and chips. They also don't have fried ice cream which is a bummer. All in all, great food and nice upscale atmosphere.

The restaurant atmosphere in the bar area is the best. It offers privacy with a booth, however you are a part of the fun at the bar. Cantina has an amazing combination of the best chips and salsa and unbelievable margaritas, the heated salsa is the best!! Service is always good and have continued to enjoy meals routinely over the years.

The place was nice...not sure what everyone else is talking about. Ya, it's a little bit more pricey than your mom and pop mexican restaurant. BUT, I'm also not getting fresh guacamole, delicious tacos barabcoa and REAL carnitas. 5 of us went last Friday, while there seemed to be a bunch of people waiting, because we didn't want to sit outside (thought it was going to rain on us), we were able to get a seat in little time. Waitress was good and service was above average our entire trip. Drinks too a little be longer than we thought they should have, but the waitress came over a couple of times to keep our water fresh and to give us updates. Drinks were good, 2 margaritas, a sangria and a beer. We all got a second round, so no complaints there. Food - GOOD...REALLY good. One of the guys we were with is Hispanic, who grew up in a traditional hispanic family, and he thinks the food is the best around. 3 of us got the various tacos dinners, good taste, good portions, and the other 2 got the Carnitas. Everyone was raving about the food and no one went home hungry or complaining they're going to have to unbuckle their belt. Prices - Ya, they're up there but I consider it worth it. Nice atmosphere, good food, good drinks, good service. I'll pay for it. Overall, while it's a little bit out of the way for us. I really liked it and I can see us taking another trip up there.

After hearing about Cantina Laredo for over a year, we visited yesterday. Beautiful and clean dining area with festive music that wasn't too loud to hear conversation. We were quickly greeted and ordered our drinks and guacamole made tableside. I originally thought it was pricy but after tasting the fresh ingredients, it was undoubtedly the best guacamole I have ever tasted. Chips were fresh and crispy and the salsas were unique. We ordered beef tacos, chicken fajitas, Poblano pepper with Picadillo and enchiladas de cangrejo. Picadillo was made with raisins and cranberries and was too sweet for my liking. When I expressed my dislike, I was immediately offered an alternative dish. I ordered the enchilada de cangrejo and found heaven on earth. Real crab meat and cheese over a bed of fresh cabbage etc covered in a light sauce that tasted like she crab soup. Outstanding! We all enjoyed every bit of our meal and will return soon. Will be trying their Wednesday margarita and appetizer deal.

Maybe it's because I'm Italian, but the one problem I've always had with salsa is that it's served cold, though my girlfriend vehemently disagrees. Luckily, Cantina Laredo understands me and has a salsa for each of us when your table gets served. Our favorite thing to do is go shopping around Wiregrass for a while and then dip inside and split an order of the fajitas. It's definitely enough for two after you've eaten all the chips in sight and they've had to cut you off. It's nice for lunch because there is always a good amount of seating available both inside and outside.

It sucked to be sitting with my two year old, and having a bunch of young servers cursing and laughing right behind us. Very nice outdoor seating area, but there are better options at Wiregrass.

The food is not bad - particularly the freshly made guacamole, but the service was really just bad. My friend and I arrived on an evening that was not busy. We were seated on the terrace and waited 15 minutes before a server ever came out to greet us and get a drink order. What is particularly bad about this is that the manager was at the hostess desk when we arrived and witnessed us being seated. I would have thought that between the hostess and the manager, someone could have gotten a server out to us more quickly than that. Once we placed our order, our food came in timely fashion, but then the server disappeared again and didn't really check on us appropriately.

The foods good, as far as Mexican in Florida goes. The service is always slow. If you go, be ready to stay for a couple hours even when it's not busy. The guacamole is fresh made at the table and pretty good.

We sat at a table near the bar which ended up getting the bartender as our server. Took him 15 minutes to even greet us. I was upset of course and he didn't even seem to notice we had been there waiting the whole time. Food was way more money then it should be for enchiladas. $18 anyways needless to say we won't go back.

The only wow at this place is the location - at Wiregrass mall. They have a nice outside eating area. I always tend to go to places with nice outside eating areas. Seeing that I am from Chicago, that's pretty seasonal. I thought I already reviewed this place, but I guess I did not and obviously it was not that memorable. The food here is simply blah and you can really get yummier food at tons of other places. The cost of the plates were way expensive, and I am sure it was marked up since it was located at Wiregrass. There is really nothing home to write home about unless you want to complain. I really would not waste your money on this place. Well, unless you want to get margaritas. But I really did not get a chance to try them here.

Just Okay. There was nothing particularly memorable or outstanding. My only gripe was that the entree portion of fish tacos was appetizer proportion. I filled up on chips and salsa, which were very good, but would have preferred more of what I ordered and were really good. We chose this place over another more "authentic" Mexican place because in was more suitable to a vegan in our party.

Been there many times. Loved the food, but this time waiter had such a bad attitude we walked out. He litterally threw the chips and salsa on the table and put drinks down hard enough to spill them. His scowl of a face said Leave it will only get worse. We walked out rather than having it get worse. Ashame, we like the food but his attitude said don't go back. Time to find a new Mexican restaurant.

Cantina Loredo was, by far, the biggest disappointment for me here in Florida. I asked around my job to see where a good Mexican place was, as my boyfriend loves Mexican food and I wanted to surprise him with a date night. Several people recommended Cantina Loredo, so off we went! Initially, we were wowed by the ambiance. It's really quite nice inside. Unfortunately, we were only met by spotty service and extremely overpriced drinks and food, both of which were nothing special ($10 guacamole...really?). We ended up spending $75 on dinner, and we couldn't figure out how that had happened... My advice? Moe's is right around the corner. They aren't nearly as fancy, but at least they are what they are!

I have heard some good things about Cantina Laredo so I decided to check it out since my parents frequent the place, but I was disappointed when I got there and saw their menu didn't have many options besides tacos and enchiladas that looked appetizing. I decided to go with soft tacos and though it was good, I wouldn't say it was great. The rice didn't taste good at all, the refried beans were not good either. The guacamole was okay. The chips and dip were just okay, not really great. I'll try one of their other entrees sometime but I wasn't really impressed with their food.

Make sure to go over the bill so that you are actually charged for what you ordered. I have dined here many times in the past and can't recall when we have not had a problem with the service or bill. Overcharged for everything - "oops, sorry I will correct it" Never again. Goodbye Cantina Laredo......

I was so excited about a restaurant advertising "gourmet Mexican food" that I joined their e-club a week before I visited. Boy, I was sure let down! Please remove my name from the e-club. The best part of my dinner here was the Top Shelf Guacamole, which is made table-side while you watch. Pretty cool! And--no doubt--the guacamole was very tasty. Everyone at my table enjoyed trying it. I should also point out that it was free (thanks to joining the e-club). Per our waiter's suggestion, I opted for the Camaron Poblano Asada, which is grilled steak around a poblano pepper stuffed with shrimp, mushrooms, onions and monterey jack cheese. While this certainly sounds delicious, I was pretty disappointed when it arrived at the table. It was too small and its taste was just average. Priced at $22, I was hoping for something more. In the end, "gourmet Mexican food" remains only an oxymoron. Perhaps one day--somewhere, somehow--true gourmet Mexican food will be discovered. I will continue praying for that day.

Fancy feeding- well, at least in the name of Mexican cuisine. Attached to Wiregrass mall in Lutz, it is a little pricier but if you are looking for a Mexican eatery with phenomenal service aligned with sophistication in atmosphere and plating, you've hit the jackpot. They claim authenticity but I'm not sold. However, their gourmet goodies are diverse and deliciously different from your standard Mexican fare. Guacamole made tableside is worth every penny and their vegetarian Enchiladas de Avocado could even please the average carnivore.

Cantina Laredo is located within the Wiregrass Mall. It has a nice atmosphere with outdoor seating and bar. One could say it is the typical bar/grille setup at Wiregrass but serves "gourmet Mexican". The layout is nice, and has a nice feel to it,, definitely a nice place for a date. The food on the other hand is definitely not Mexican and seriously needs to get someone in their who knows how to cook Mexican. I ordered the Enchiladas Veracruz, while my wife ordered the Steak Fajitas. The Enchiladas looked amazing and came with a decent amount of food, but the food itself was not that appetizing. The enchiladas seemed too wet, and the chicken lacked any real flavor. The same could be said about my wife's dish. The steak was not seasoned or marinated and was just bland Steak, truly disappointing. The rice was also pretty bad and tasted like cheap Rice-a-Roni. No real flavor, and just artificial. To truly say this is Mexican rice is disrespectful to our neighbors down south. One positive aspect of Cantina Laredo was their salsa that came with their complementary tortillas chips. What they called "spicy" was truly flavorful. My wife and I found ourselves dipping the Steak Fajitas in the salsa for flavor. Another positive aspect was the size of their flan. I believe it was $6.95, and the waiter showed us a serving which was really great for the price. I didn't taste because I was not in the mood for more disappointment. In the end, Cantina Laredo is a nice place to take someone for "gourmet Mexican". Granted Cantina Laredo is about as Mexican as Taco Bell, but still it has a nice atmosphere. I would say it is a nice place to take someone who has IBS, but wants Mexican.

The $10 made at your table was good, but clearly too much. Food is good so if you don't mind the price it is worth it check it out.

The service was a tad slow, but the great food more than compensated for it. We were in an appetizer mood and had several rather than a main course. We were not disappointed. I've had ceviche throughout Central and South America and the ceviche appetizer at Laredo was about the best I've ever tasted. The guacamole (prepared at the table) was equally good. The place has tastefully contemporary decor, a wide variety of tequilas, and excellent margaritas that clearly don't come from a pre-packaged mix. Looking forward to returning.

This is my first 1-star review. Not because the experience was fatal, but because they utterly fail to be what they claim to be: a "gourmet Mexican" restaurant, it is basically very expensive Mexican mall food. A brief rundown: We had to ask twice for chips while other people around us seemed to be given chips upon being seated. When they arrived, they were bland. There really isn't a great variety of Mexican food, just tacos, fajitas and enchiladas. My wife ordered one of the fresh margaritas they are supposedly known for, It was awful, not fresh or mixed right. She made a comment to the wait staff that the margarita was not mixed right and was given the brush off. My salad was OK. Cristina's tacos where OK. The beans are rice were awful. Cafeteria food is better. So again, there are worse places to eat. But I'd rather go to Taco Bell than this place. At least with Taco Bell, you get what you pay for.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere of an upscale restaurant located in the nice outdoor setting of Wiregrass can't be beat. So why the 3 stars? What the hell is "gourmet Mexican food?" I've been through the heart of Mexico (not the tourist areas), visited my Dad who works at the TX/Mexico border, and grew up in a community of migrant workers many of who came fresh from visiting their motherland. So YES, THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS... but it definitely wasn't authentic and gave a false sense of "gourmet Mexican food." I think it would have been smart to not market itself as such and rather say its an upscale, Mexican-American fushion place where you bring a date to. PYRA SAYS: For the price I paid, I could have bought a tub full of authentic and tastier Mexican cuisine.

Cantina Laredo has become one of our favorite spots. Although at first glance it may appear a bit pricey compared to other Mexican spots, the portions are large. Ordering 1 order of fajitas with table side fresh guacamole feeds two easily and will keep you under $30. Chips and salsa are free and are fresh, authentic, and tasty. As for the main dishes, they are good, but not outstanding (except for the Guacamole which is OUTSTANDING, but overpriced). Service has been better than average on all visits. I think its a stretch to call the food "gourmet", but overall, if you enjoy Mexican restaurants, I recommend it.

October 16th we went to the Wiregrass Mall. Although I have been in Spring HIll for 6 years I had never been. My husband and I went on a beautiful day. Did a little shopping, I told him I was hungry. Now there isnt much in food dept that we do not like. Any type of restaurant we go to we find something good :D We were in the mood for some Latin food, we headed to Cantina Laredo. Immediately we were seated. I am in a wheelchair at this time. I told them a booth would be great I can transfer :D. We were waited on, our waitress was great. She immediately told us everything is made fresh every day. I always have to let them know I am allergic to shell fish. She made sure she told the chef so there would not be any cross contamination. :D. I ordered the MAHI MAHI TACOS , it came with LIME CILANTRO RICE, & a nice bowl of black beans. My tacos were so good. The black beans I really liked. My husband ordered a mahi sandwich with rice and another side. I did not like my rice, I am not a big fan of cilantro :D my husband liked my rice I liked his so next time we will trade rice dishes. You can tell that everything was so fresh, not frozen , not out of a bag. We tipped our waitress generously, as she made sure out glasses were filled and checked on us quite frequently. We found the price to be average with many restaurants, we did not think it was overpriced. I know lunch portions are smaller and less expensive but we saw the prices for dinner and their prices seemed same as other places. We were there for late lunch, the tacos according Dan R. was too small for him. for me they were perfect. We were especially pleased with the freshness of the food. I think their website calls the food Modern Mexican but I would just call it upscale Mexican. Not your typical Mexican Restaurant, they're trying to cater to a more trendy crowd. I had the Barbacoa Tacos and enjoyed them (3 small soft tacos with rice and beans) and my wife had one of their salads. The price to food ratio was fair but not outstanding. We sat outside during a nice January evening and enjoyed the atmosphere but our server lacked personality, and wasn't very attentive. I would go back for both the interior and outdoor atmosphere but I'd rather have the Barbacoa Burrito at Chipotle if given a choice.

The truth is, I don't think I would want to know anyone who wouldn't be into 'gourmet Mexican'. I mean, refined exciting Mexican food? Umm, yes! Needless to say, I really want to like this place. And, I guess, I do. The issue is, 'like' is the right word. None of the food I've had is terribly exciting, or gourmet for that matter. Food seems to be prepared well and is plated cleanly, but nothing is vibrant, nothing has depth, nothing pops. I wanted smokey, spicy, layers of depth. I got, "yeah, it's good.. let's go see what's in the stores now". The service is good. I've never had anyone hover and I've never had anyone forget. The ambiance is kinda upscale/trendy/Mexican in a Disney kind of way. Which, truthfully, I'm OK with. I don't really have anything bad to say about this place, but if their food was 3/4 as good as their marketing of said food, I would probably love it.

Fresh, great quality food and drinks. Unparralled customer satisfaction and experience. The ambiance is not that of a traditional Mexican restaurant, with a fireplace and private dining room to boot. The food on the other hand was traditional with a variety of new world Mexican cuisine. The grilled red snapper with jalapeÃ±o buerre blanc was a tantalization to the taste buds. The homemade salsas were grill roasted which gave the salsas a uniqueness I never had before. The sauces and guacamole were definitely made fresh and reminded me of the great tasting vegetables from my grandmothers garden. I can't stop writing because the experience was so extraordinary and the entire staff seemed to be everywhere and anticipated our every need. We spoke with the Gm and comended him on his well run business.

I've only visited the Tampa location once, and it was awful. I have visited the Fort Lauderdale location a few times for work related happy hours. My experiences at that location were average. The food is way overpriced, and my entree was almost inedible. Way undercooked, cold, and everything on the plate seemed to be soggy. This place might survive based on its suburban appeal to the masses, but I think the prices might turn some families off and they will become wise to the sub par food they're getting for their money. The only positive in my experience was the chips and salsa. The waiter literally wouldn't stop bringing them. At one point, my 2 buddies and I had an entire basket of chips to ourselves and there were about 5 bowls of salsa on the table. I guess that's how they justify the high prices for "gourmet" Mexican food.

How do you say this place is a rip off in spanish? The answer- Cantina Laredo! Sorry, but this is the worst restaurant in Wiregrass and that's being nice. Honestly, the problem is the price for what you get in return. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area that are much better and more traditional which won't cost you $25 per entree! Also, please don't order the guacamole that the waiters are trained to ask you for when you sit down. This is just their first rip-off opportunity and they'll seriously charge you $8 for it...probably based on the labor involved. The meals from there are simply underseasoned and overpriced. The drinks are also very expensive and if you order a mojito its not very strong, just filled with lots of syrup in a deceptively small glass...however you get a "free" sugar cane! The desserts rock though, especially the flaing apple pie but there satisfaction of a good dessert only lasts so long as the bill is next! Service is decent but it really depends on who you get, either way far below what it should be. Overall, a dissapointment so if you're visiting Wiregrass please pass on this as an option and spend your money elsewhere. Sorry, but it's the truth!

I had a lunch business meeting at this restaurant, so not my choice but I was happy to try a newer place by my house. I was so disappointed with everything but the decor. Hence one star. Table side guacamole was tasteless, chips tasted stale. My entree which was an enchilada, had an off taste- burnt and not fresh and flavorful as I had expected from a high end Mexican establishment. Back to Vallarta's. Prefer family owned fresh food at reasonable prices.

I found my first Cantina Laredo in Ft. Lauderdale several years ago and immediately became a big fan. Then I saw one in West Palm, and was struck with Cantina envy. I was delighted to find one in the Tampa Bay area (even if it's a 40 minute drive from my house in Pinellas). Cantina Laredo's sign says it is a "gourmet Mexican restaurant", and I think we can all use a little gourmet in whatever kind of food we're eating. This is a nice place to have lunch or dinner. The decor is upscale, and I've always thought it was a relaxing place to dine. Chips and two types of salsa are brought to the table after seating. They were both good; one was very fresh tasting with some roasted tomatoes or peppers in it. I was curious, so I asked the waiter if they had anything with a little more heat. He was happy to make a custom salsa for me, which had substantially more heat, but still plenty of flavor. My wife sampled their fresh, made at your table guacamole and said it was delicious. I'm a finicky eater and just can't bring myself to try it despite everyone in the world loving guacamole. For dinner, I found something close to an entree I crave from Houston's Pappasitos; shrimp wrapped in bacon with a sliver of jalapeno, broiled, and served with Chimmichurri sauce for dipping. This was very good, and highly addictive. Six or seven shrimp were served over rice. I would have eaten more, but I was full from my first order :). My wife enjoyed her entree, which at this moment, I can't recall. We will be going back to Cantina Laredo on a regular basis to try everything on the menu, it's really great place to eat!

I loved Cantina Laredo. The restaurant was very aesthetically appealing. The booths were very comfy and our waiter was attentive and helpful. I ordered the enchiladas de portabella, which was amazing. The sauce was just spicy enough and the mushrooms and cheese and peppers were cooked just right. It was kind of pricey, at $14 for my plate, but there was plenty of food and I left feeling very satisfied. The chips and salsa was also great. I really enjoyed the spicy salsa. They also offer to make guacamole at your table for you, which I didn't try but would love to. It looked delicious. Also their drinks look pricey, but yummy. I would recommend this place for people with some cash to blow, who love mexican food. Perfect date place!

OK I've seen the reviews so far and quite frankly there isn't a place in or out of Tampa that I would consider to be great Mexican with the exception of one surprising place (Mekinitas) that I have to go back to to see if it was a fluke. Anyway, back to Cantina Laredo's. Yeah, it may not be "gourmet" but the Camaron Poblano Carne Asada is really delicious and enough that my husband and I end up splitting the dish. We also really enjoy the guacamole made at the table so I think if you are going for taco's then yeah, it's probably not any different than going to any one of the 100 other mexican places in Tampa. Now as for the margarita's.... I am going to disagree with whoever said they weren't fresh or good. The margaritas are one of the major reasons we go there... They use fresh squeezed lime juice, Patron Silver... and after two of them the night turns into a party. We go at least once a month. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. I definitely think it's better than OK.

I am a frequent visitor of Cantina Laredo and am blown away about the reviews. Possibly you went into the restaurant with the wrong idea of what gourmet mexican food is. The definition says that.. Gourmet food is of the highest quality and flavor, prepared well and presented in an artful manner. They make all the sauces and salsas fresh daily which sounds like high quality to me. Every dish I have had has been arranged and presented beautifully.. in an artful manner you could say. They have plenty more than tacos and enchiladas.. I typically get either their fresh fish or carne asada steak. My wife usually gets one of the many chicken dishes they have. The items on the menu range in price from 10 to 25 dollars which to me sounds like a range that could fit everyone's budget. To those who compared it to taco bell.. well you obviously don't know what real mexican food is. You should definitely try a margarita there. I have seen the bartenders hand squeezing lemons and limes to make each margarita.. talk about fresh!

Had a taste for cheesy enchiladas & a stellar margarita. Not only was the enchilada not warm, the chicken was pink. Absolutely unacceptable. Kids tacos were served on plates that were SCORCHING hot. Margaritas were strong. Service and overall attitude of staff was inattentive/uninterested I'd pay the higher prices if the quality of food & service were there but it's not. Go somewhere else.

Love love love this place. The guacamole is a must have, the margaritas are generous and definitely not made from a strange concoction of artificial flavors - hooray! - there is actual lime juice in them! Me and my husband have been there 10-15 times and have never had a disappointing dish, from the salads to the tamales...absolutely fantastic! The service is not necessarily outstanding, but it is decent. If you haven't tried this restaurant, I encourage you to, I live in the area but would be worth the drive from other parts of town.

Extremely fresh Mexican with a wide range of offerings. The Fajitas Tres Chicken and beef fajitas with bacon-wrapped shrimp filled with monterey jack cheese and jalapeÃ±o was the bomb - especially the bacon-wrapped shrimp, wish they had this on the menu by itself! Typical mex chain restaurant - some highs, some lows. Highs - chips, guac, and dessert Chips are light and delicious, salsas very good ('hot' had a nice chipotle flavor; mild was somewhat chunky with fresh cilantro) Table side guacamole was really good and had a nice flavor (cumin and lime ratio was purrfect) Brownie dessert was AWESOME - huge chunk of tall moist brownie served on a hot skillet (like fajita's), topped with scoop of ice cream and covered with an awesome brandy butter sauce that caramelized on the skillet - num!) Server was very friendly Lows - entrees Pricey, bland, and small portion sizes I ordered enchiladas - got 1 Veracruz (chicken, spinach, cheese with tomatillo sauce) and 1 chicken Mole. The mole was very thick and dark brown but oddly had very little flavor - no chocolate, no cinnamon, no chili - just thick brown sauce. The tomatillo was also very flavor-less and there was barely any on the enchilada. Bonus points for white chicken meat. These 2 small bland enchiladas, 1/4 cup of not good mex rice, and 1/4 cup of sauteed zuchini for $14.50. Way too expensive for portion size and taste. BF ordered Barbacoa Tacos - 3 very small tacos with a few pieces of super bland mushy barbacoa and mushy cooked onions - blech - served with 1/2 cup of over-salted black beans and 1/4 cup of the same yucko mex rice for $14.50.

Blah, if you enjoy half rate Mexican food and want to pay more money than it's worth. Then this place is for you. Everything is over priced and not worth the money you pay. The food doesn't match the price tag you are paying. The plates are hotter than the food is. I'll take a hole in the wall Mexican place any day over this place.

This is a review of the bar, not the restaurant. My hubby and I have made Cantina our "go-to" bar. It's in the Wiregrass Mall and has stiff competition. We used to frequent the Brass Tap right next door, but Cantina has an excellent happy hour and a wider selection of drinks. We go to GrillSmith sometimes too, but usually wind up here. First, the Margaritas. They will knock you on your ass. Very tasty and very strong. $5 all day Monday, 4-7pm all other weekdays and Saturday 11-5. On Sunday it's Mimosas and Bloody Mary's for $2. I mean, c'mon. You can't beat this. Oh, and did I mention the unlimited free chips and salsa? I love the chips. They are very thin and crispy, not chewy like in some places. Two different salsas: one hot and one mild. Both are tasty. The bar menu is great. Absolutely excellent Guacamole, made to order at the bar (and table in the restaurant). We usually order the flatbreads or the Tuna tacos. Both are very good though the taco order a bit small. The bar staff is friendly and knows their stuff. Maddy was great but has since moved. Randall is a ball of fire. Moves so fast he's almost a blur. Always has a smile for everyone. Rachel is also very nice. These folks know how to keep their customers happy. And we'll keep going back!

I have been to this establishment for happy hour on a few other occasions and while in the area I decided to stop by to use one of my birthday freebies for a free dessert. Well it just so happened that I got off work early and had not had lunch so I was hungry and ready for some good food. Since I timed it perfectly for happy hour I also was feenin' for their signature margarita and it was my lucky day because Thursdays happen to be ladies night so I got a full size margarita for $4 instead of the mini I was anticipating on the happy hour menu for $3. If you know me at all happy hours make me happy because I am able to get good food and drink at a good price so I was in heaven and I had just walked in the door. I started with the margarita and complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa was flavorful. The margarita was as good as I remembered and perfectly hit the spot. I chose the frozen margarita so the the cold beverage was refreshing after being in the heat. During happy hour several items on the bar menu including tacos are half off. It was difficult making decisions because so many of the items looked good. The bartender was no help because he confirmed my impression by stating all of the items I was considering were some of his favorites too. He was suppose to help me decide not make it harder, thanks for nothing. In that moment I was wishing I had been dining with friends so I could've just ordered and tried them all. Eventually I decided on the sopes which is a corn cake topped with the carnita, goat cheese and jalapeno. It's a tapa so its served with three mini cakes but since I was dining alone it was sufficient as a meal. I also planned to eat dessert anyway so it was essential I not be too stuffed. The sopes were delicious. The carnita was very flavorful. The cornmeal cakes were a bit dense and I wouldn't eat them alone but they were good in the composed dish. This was a great recommendation. As I mentioned I completed my visit with dessert. I ordered the brownie a la mode. The brownie was served on a hot skillet with a hot caramel sauce poured over it table side. The ice cream on top melted atop the sizzling hot brownie. The presentation was so impressive that many other guests inquired about it and even ordered it themselves. Although beautiful in appearance i thought the brownie was just ok. It was very dry actually with the exclusion of the places moistened by the sauce. The flavor was not a rich as I prefer and was only desirable when eaten with the sauce and ice cream in concert. The most disappointing part of my experience was the service. Although the bartender was polite and helpful, the service was very slow. They definitely should have had more assistance as he was bartending for the whole bar and serving the tables in the bar area which included running the food from the kitchen himself. I spent over 2 hours in the restaurant and I had 1 drink, 1 appetizer and dessert. This is ok if that was my desire but just wanted to grab a quick bite and a drink after work. Despite the weaknesses in service I'm anxious to go back with friends to try more of the menu.

As part of our post-Holiday shopping extravaganza (OMG It's a SALE!!!!), I made the drive up to the Shops at Wiregrass for an afternoon of walking, laughing, and spending money. This outdoor mall has a different collection of shops from what we normally see in Tampa, and so it was definitely worth the drive to go somewhere new. Unfortunately the mall has a number of uninspiring chain eateries, so we were glad to spot Cantina Laredo as a place for lunch. Now to be fair, Cantina Laredo is also a part of a family of Modern Mexican restaurants based in Dallas, however there are only four locations in Florida, and this is the only one in the Tampa area. Yay for justifications! :-) Cantina Laredo specializes in Mexico City-style cuisine which includes grilled seafood, chicken, and steaks complimented by specialty sauces such as chipotle-wine with Portobello mushrooms, or sautÃ©ed artichoke hearts and roasted red bell peppers. The menu looked high-end with a number of choices not normally seen in traditional Mexican places. You can choose to sit outdoors on the private patio, or move it inside to the air conditioned comfort. The restaurant and lounge were very sleek and modern, and spotlessly-clean. Our server was quick to deliver a silver serving dish of warm tortilla chips and two signature dipping sauces. One was a salsa made from roasted tomatoes and peppers for a rich, earthy flavor. The other salsa was kicked up by the addition of several different peppers to give a very tasty flavor profile before you broke out in a sweat. Also on our table was a silver dish holding an avocado and a lime, and a little tent card describing their tableside guacamole preparation. Oh yes, bring it on! In addition to the traditional tacos and enchiladas, you'll find a number of vegetarian and gluten-free options, and some new specialty dishes including a spinach - mushroom enchilada served with Jack cheese, an avocado - artichoke enchilada served with spinach, or a taco filled with grilled Portobello mushrooms in a balsamic glaze with goat cheese and roasted red peppers. Sure you'll pay a bit more for this type of healthy eating, but I doubt that you'll be making a "run for the border" later in the afternoon. *coughs delicately* I tried the lump crabmeat enchilada with spicy chili de arbol cream sauce on a bed of marinated vegetables, and declared this dish a big success. I was told that they make a kick-a$$ margarita with top-shelf tequila, but since I needed to keep an eye on my charge cards I decided to stay with ice water. Cantina Laredo has a more extensive dinner menu with seasoned and grilled meats and seafood. They also have a Sunday Brunch from 11am - 3pm, and a special New Year's Eve menu which will include mucho tequila and Mexican yumminess. This was a big hit, and a welcome change from typical mall food.

2 stars because....Ehhh, it's alright but definitely not worth the price. Recently came here after work for ladies night (half price margaritas on Thursday) Which is the only night margaritas are reasonably priced. Table side Guacamole didn't have much flavor and for 10 dollar Guac, it should have been amazing. I also ordered chicken fajita nachos. Again not much flavor and the chips were burnt but they did come in a large enough portion to share. A friend ordered the Ahi tuna tacos. The menu describes them as mini sushi tacos. Turns out Mini means bite sized. She was still hungry. Service was unreasonably slow. For example, the server took my glass to refill it and didn't come back for 15 minutes. At these prices, if you don't have great food, you HAVE to have great service. In summary: there are better places to go, even in Pasco county.

Cantina Laredo dubs itself as gourmet Mexican food. My first thought? Why does Mexican have to be gourmet. For years I've survived just nicely without. My second thought? I love Mexican so...why not? Let's give it a go. Cantina Laredo was a gigantic mixed bag for me. There were some good. There was some bad. I'll start with the good. I liked that they made the guacamole in front of you. That's cool, you can't get any fresher than that. It also made it possible to cater it towards my tastes. Me...I hate cilantro. Abhor it. So I asked them to leave it out and they did. The chips that are served free of charge aren't bad, especially when paired with the restaurant's spicy salsa. The chips/salsa combo easily became one of the highlights of the night. My main course, an artichoke dish, was certainly unique and "gourmet". It was okay, there was nothing particularly memorable about it. So what's the bad? Prices. Man these were outrageous. As fun as it is to watch them make the guacamole, I don't want to pay for that experience and I must have. I mean I've made guacamole in my kitchen hundreds of times and it doesn't cost anywhere near what the Cantina charges. While my dish was okay it was, again, not worth the price. My other problem with this place is the lack of vegetarian and vegan options. It was hard for me to find something I wanted to eat. When I asked about having the dairy removed, the waitress didn't seem to have any clue how to make that happen. I think my dish wound up being vegan, but I can't be sure. I don't like leaving a place feeling like that. With all the vegan friendly restaurant options in the Wiregrass Mall area, Cantina Laredo won't be something that will become a part of our regular rotation. I need my Mexican to taste good. Not to be gourmeh.

Amazing enchiladas de cangrejo! Delicious and fragrant mimosa! The food and previous service jas never disappointed. Until, today. I treated myself to a nice lunch. I guess that's why the service was poor. The hostess was more hospitable than the waitress was. Just because I'm dining alone for lunch, does not mean you don't have to check on me during my meal and then rush me at the end. Simply asking if I would like dessert or the check is just rude and bad service. I wanted dessert, but opted for the check because she didn't seem like she wanted to do her job today.

There is a happy hour and I think lady's night on thursdays. Great out door dog friendly patio. Open in house seating and bar. Several tv's at the bar area. Casual attire and good customer service. I always enjoy this Americanized establishment of Mexican cuisine because of the high quality food I eat. Honestly I'm never too impressed with the smaller scale/ more authentic Mexican restaurants like Vallartas. They just have larger portions for cheaper prices. Laredos pack better and more delicious flavors everytime I dine here. For starters, I always order the guacamole appetizer. As an avocado fan, it's nearly perfect except last time there was a bit too much jalapeÃ±o for me and I was unable to enjoy the whole bowl. The house chips complement the guac and house salsas very well. My usual order are the basic enchiladas. I don't know why but I just really enjoy their taste and textures. I get the chicken, beef, and the cheese & onion. The rice is okay but I've never been a fan of yellow/orange rice. Finally it's always hard for me to pass up the Mexican Apple pie dessert. The server brings it out, sizzling, on a small black pan (similar to fajitas). They then drizzle this creamy goodness on top and all around to get a delicious caramelization of flavors going. And to literally top it off, some cinnamon ice cream is added to create a yin & yang/fire & ice combination of ultimate goodness. The only restaurant I ever go to where I order a full three course meal!

Went here for brunch with my best friend while on vacation and had a great time. The atmosphere was great and the bartender, who was also our waiter, was fantastic - albeit inattentive. We arrived just after they opened and were seated in the bar area. Our server recommended some brunch items - I got the huevos divorciados (highly recommended) and my friend got the chicken enchiladas (her favorite). We each got a bloody Maria, and our server asked how spicey we liked them and customized them perfectly. As the restaurant got busier, our server seemed to forget we were there and my water sat empty for over 30 minutes. Aside from that- a great time and would go back!

The foods good, as far as Mexican in Florida goes. The service is always slow. If you go, be ready to stay for a couple hours even when it's not busy. The guacamole is fresh made at the table and pretty good.

We sat at a table near the bar which ended up getting the bartender as our server. Took him 15 minutes to even greet us. I was upset of course and he didn't even seem to notice we had been there waiting the whole time. I had previously posted my review about Cantina Laredo and was very candid about the service being sub-par while the food was outstanding. We have been back several times since that posting, and I am very impressed by how the comments and feedback I provided was taken to heart and addressed. The service has improved tremendously and the staff is attentive to their customers. There has been such a significant change that I decided to come back and update my review based off of the fact we have returned numerous times and watched the transformation. Great job to the staff and management! The food is still over the top excellent! This is one of the few places we can get ceviche and a nice assortment of tacos! While I am all about the fish- my husband loves his carne and we have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we have tried. During happy hour (in the bar area) they have an appetizer menu that is half off and the prices cannot be beat- especially considering the quality of food. While I don't recall ceviche on the happy hour menu- they do have all of our favorite taco options :0) - happy camper- right here. Due to the improvements- I stand by my new rating and promise you will not be disappointed! Again- great job Cantina Laredo!

This place has totally gone downhill. The inside smells to high heaven, the food is subpar and the staff is just going through the motions. I left my credit card there on a Wednesday. Called Thursday and the manager told me it wasn't there. I knew I had left it so I popped in. My waiter from the day before told me it was there somewhere...but when the manger came back up he told me it wasn't there. I demanded he check again and then I was told that I needed to wait for another manager arrive because he knew where it was. What!?! With so many choices in places to eat in this area, don't waste your time on this one.

One of my fav foods (who am I kidding, I like it all) is Spanish food. The only unique thing about this restaurant was the two home made salsas, but def not worth the price of a taco, let alone an entire meal. 2 people it cost $60 and we both had 3 taco's each plus a drink.

By far the best meal I have ever had. Listen, my boyfriend and I go out to eat for almost EVERY meal. We try new places all the time, but we of course have our favorites. We got a gift card here, so we tried it out, it was a drive for us(about 45 mins) but it was worth every mile. Before we could even finish sitting down at the bar, a server came up and placed chips and salsa in front of us. Then we got the best Casa Rita Margaritas! $5 for Happy Hour! Best drinks ever. Then we got the tableside guac which was SO fresh and just absolutely amazing. For our meals, I ordered the Veracruz which was by far the best meal I have ever had. My bf got what was recommended by our bartender Randall. It was Carnitas fajitas, and let me tell you, I don't eat any meat other than chicken and I had 6 bites of that pork. We were just blown away with everything from start to finish and will most definitely be back more often. Its so great to finally find a place where the service is as good as the food!

The margaritas were amazing, the guacamole was mad fresh at the table, complimentary chips and two choices of salsa...all delicious! We got the fajitas and easily split them. They were full of flavor and came with guacamole, sour cream and Pico. It was all wonderful. For dessert we tried the apple pie, and it did not disappoint! I give it 3 stars because it is way over-priced and the hostess was a little snot. My husband and I walk in, and she doesn't say a word to us. Isn't that "Hostessing 101", greet patrons as they enter the restaurant? Not a word from her just a look of indifference. So I said, two please. She shows us to our table and that's that. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive and explained some of the dishes to us. However, one look at the menu and we knew we weren't going to find what we really wanted. Okay, I guess "gourmet Mexican food" isn't for us. Everything was fresh, the chips and salsa, and our entrees, but just not the flavors or entrees we are used to. We could have gone down the street and still have gotten fresh and paid about a third of what we paid here. The cheapest margaritas on a Saturday night are $8 and $9, and we enjoyed one each. The interior and ambience was very nice, lots of conversations going on, but you could still hear the people at your own table. We won't go back, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who will.

I've been here once before and felt like it was a little pricy for what we ordered. The boys wanted something different so we gave it a second go. What I liked: the salads are in the $12-14 range and are ridiculously huge! I got the cilantro lime salad - it was delicious. Et dressing on the side because you WILL have leftovers. We also ordered guac that is made table side. Very fresh and the chips are thin and delicious - and not overly salted). The kids meals were reasonably priced and were good portions. We also ordered a slice of mango cake. It was amazing and plenty for me + my two boys. What didn't I like? Service is a bit slow, especially with kids in tow. The waitress forgot about us at one point and seemed very rushed when she was making our guac. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but will keep us from coming back with the kids - which is almost always unfortunately.

I'm thoroughly disappointed in this location. My husband and I went around 2pm. The restaurant was literally empty. We sat for 20 minutes at our table and no one EVER came. We moved to the bar in hopes of being acknowledged. Nope. We waited another 5 minutes and nothing. The bartender was too busy talking to the ONE other couple there about how much money she makes working there. Wah?? How unprofessional! On our way out we asked to speak with a manger. Not because we wanted to stay, but because we wanted to save the next patron that would come in after us. Another 5 minutes went by and that asshole never came out to speak to us so alas, we left and went somewhere else. THIS LOCATION is a sore disappointment. I've been a long, loyal fan of this place and even spent $8K on them to cater my wedding (the Palm Beach location where the employees aren't totally inept). Please fire everyone currently working there and start from scratch, corporate.

My experience at Cantina Laredo was definitely 5 star worthy. I came here with my son for brunch, and they had just opened their doors for the day. I loved the classy look of this restaurant and was excited to see what their food looked like. The wait staff was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful, especially to my little guy. She told us all about the brunch menu and I was sold. I went with the Crab Cakes Benedict and it was one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had. The crab cakes are topped with poached eggs and a chipotle-wine hollandaise sauce. They're just as amazing as they sound. Along with the crab cakes came drool-worthy hashbrowns and cute little tortilla cup covered in cinnamon sugar and filled with fresh fruit. And brunch came with a complimentary Mimosa as well. So good! Sorry I don't have a picture for you, but I enjoyed it so much it was gone before I thought to get out my camera.

First thing we noticed is the layout was really bad. Not conducive to walking through and no clear walkways from front to back. The taco shells were too chewy for my dates tacos and my enchiladas chicken was very dry and chewy. This is ignoring the fact that waitress got my order wrong in the first place. There are very few higher end Mexican style restaurants in Tampa, this one does a very good job! This is not a cheese covered dive, they use top ingredients and produce quality food! They have an excellent wait staff & a superb kitchen!! Their hostess need some work, they aren't the brightest girls in the bunch. Great selection of drinks and dinners! The Table side Guac is excellent! And yes thy use Spring Mix!!! No Iceberg!! We love going here and will continue to support this establishment!

Based on one meal and one dish, this place was, as yelp would have it, woohoo! We had a chicken enchilada and a sea bass special. The drinks were good and meh (the white sangria was good, the mojito meh). The chips / salsa / guac were good, but nothing earth shattering. What was earth shattering was the sea bass special. The fish was cooked perfectly. It had a great texture and the sauce was nice. The enchilada was good, but it's just an enchilada. We had the tres leches cake for dessert, and it was a rare tres leches cake that was very, very good. I do agree with some of the reviewers - service could be better. Go for the food. It's worth the trek.

I went to Wiregrass Mall today to get a battery for my watch and as I was walking by I saw many eateries but being that I love Mexican food I spotted Cantina Laredo and almost passed it by . I saw the menu and I changed my mind because they offered many items that I really enjoy . I went in and was instantly greeted and sat down Chips and salsas were presented and menu was dropped . I picked the seafood ceviche and Tacos a la Barbacoa which included Rice and beans . All was presented in a timely manner and the food was delicious . I cannot complain , the flavors were there and the colors made your mouth water . I took pictures and added them to my Facebook Page . For dessert I had Tres Leches cake which was to die for the flavors made my tongue squeal with pleasure . True the place was at lunch and it was quiet not packed ,even the mall was quiet so I was glad to have a server who gave me much attention and made the lunch spectacular . I sent my compliments to the kitchen . I had no alcohol because I was Driving but had Iced Tea which was my only complaint , very weak but the refills were on the house . I would go there again as everything was in order and did have a splendid time . Thank you Cantina Laredo.

While shopping at Wiregrass recently with my mother and teenage niece we decided to grab a bite to eat at Cantina Laredo. First impression walking into the restaurant was that it was not a typical Mexican restaurant as far as dÃ©cor and staff. I loved the small touch of having a bowl of avocados (fake) sitting on the table to let you know that they obviously make their guacamole tableside. So of course we ordered that to start our meal but we requested more cilantro as they were not going to add very much. And I did notice that they avocados were actually past their perfect ripe point and probably shouldn't be used but my niece had never seen this and was fascinated but the experience so I didn't mention anything to their server. My mother and I shared the chicken/steak fajitas which were very tasty, however the amount of meat we received was not a lot at all and there was only 3 small pieces of steak (which was for my mom). My niece got a chicken enchilada that she LOVED. I took a bite of hers because it appeared that the chicken was one large piece so I was expecting it to be over cooked due to the size. I can honestly say for this type of entrÃ©e I have never had a piece of chicken so moist and juicy. It was perfect. Overall, lunch was good, not worth the price tag for the amount we got. I can't see myself going back there to be frank, but it's not some place that I would tell people to stay away from.

No Reservation = No Way! We were told our wait would be 20 minutes because we did not have a reservation. As I walked through the dining room to the ladies room, I counted 18 open tables. When I asked the hostess about it she said that's why you need to call ahead. Next I approached the manager who was even ruder. We really wanted Mexican food, so we decided to wait. Unfortunately, the wait turned into 40 minutes and then the food was lack-luster. The mild salsa was HOT because the chef neglected to remove the seeds from the peppers. When we asked our server, he said "Oh that's interesting." The onions in the enchiladas were totally raw. The "grilled mixed veggies" were zucchini mixed with zucchini. Corporate needs to send in some help...NOW!

Hyped as gourmet Mexican Food I was interested. Upon entering there was nothing "Mexican" about the place. Very nice plain non descript dÃ©cor, nothing Mexican about it. oh, wait there was a basket of limes on the bar, Mexican I guess. The complimentary chips were good and included dips. The food was way beyond salty and inconsistent. Two tacos were served one had a good amount of meat the other almost none. Their Torta De Carnitas has a fried egg on top, the highlight, but the white was runny and uncooked. When I questioned it the waiter, who was also the bar tender, said the yolk was supposed to be runny, that I knew, the white was less than half cooked. It was returned to the kitchen and came back "over easy" very imaginative. The Enchilada Veracruz was extremely salty and otherwise just Ok. Calling the food gourmet and charging crazy high prices does not make it so.

Excellent! From the get go we were impressed. Clean, upscale. Nice atmosphere. We started off with the chips and salsa, standard. Both salsas were great. I am a fan of spice so the darker hit the spot for myself. For drink I got the Cabo flip..... Well make that TWO! Perfect. It came with an inside out lime filled with tequila...... Need I say more?! For entree I got the Tampico. Chicken with a spinach and white sauce, rice and zucchini. All perfect. Cleaned my plate which was very large..... It was that good. I will be back!

The last 3 times we have attempted to eat at the bar the service has been SO slow, the last time we actually left. Having only 1 bartender for that huge area is NOT working - even 2 would be a stretch given the volume at the service bar (margaritas, bloody marys, wines, etc..). We love this place - the food is excellent - and the chips and salsa as well. We used to go to a location in W Palm for years. But the WC location can't figure it out. Even past experiences at tables here - the service is always slow. In fact, out of the 6-7 last times here, we always end up sitting and waiting for something - drinks, chips, to order, the bill...anytime of day/night..bar/table. Such a shame. We would be eating here once a week if the service problems were worked out. Not all of us are snowbirds or on island time - there are a lot of working people in WC and we need to get in and get out! PLEASE add more staff and train them properly - this is a first class chain with excellent food, you need to do better.

The food was decent, not fantastic. Definitely not worth the price tag in my opinion. I had the Fiesta de la Parrilla which had shrimp, quail, carnitas, beef, and chicken served with four fajita tortillas. The meat was good. It just didn't blow my mind away. The portion is huge. My favorite meat was the carnitas. It was very tender and juicy. The rest were average. We also had their freshly made guacamole. It was good except the waiter who made ours was his first time, so it came out pretty chunky and wasn't mixed well. I also had the brownie dessert which was good except they serve it on a hot skillet so when the ice cream is placed on top it quickly melts. It becomes a race to see how much you can stuff in your face before the skillet melts your ice cream... I lost that race... The service was pretty bad. Slow to get drinks, slow to get food out, wasn't very professional or attentive at all. We had to keep searching for a waiter to get us drinks or chips. The food is okay, atmosphere is nice, service is poor, prices are too high.

This service is OK, the People aren't always that friendly and I would probably give them 3 stars but the food makes up for it and so I'm giving them four stars. I highly recommend eating the cheese enchiladas in the cold salsa.

AMAZING! I have been here a few times and its always simply great. I have no idea what the other people in these reviews are talking about. They have to be elitist or something and by something I mean fucking silly whiners. I was in shock to see 2.5 stars for this place? The ambiance is warn and beautiful. every server I have ever had there has been really on top of everything. The food is spectacular! they will even make you things that arent on the menu and make fresh guakamole at the table for you! not expensive at all and one of my favorite places! I completely recommend that you not only go here but ignore any bad reviews about this place! The apple pie dessert is the best!

The food is not bad - particularly the freshly made guacamole, but the service was really just bad. My friend and I arrived on an evening that was not busy. We were seated on the terrace and waited 15 minutes before a server ever came out to greet us and get a drink order. What is particularly bad about this is that the manager was at the hostess desk when we arrived and witnessed us being seated. I would have thought that between the hostess and the manager, someone could have gotten a server out to us more quickly than that. Once we placed our order, our food came in timely fashion, but then the server disappeared again and didn't really check on us appropriately.

I feel after reading the other "excellent" reviews, that we must have been at another Cantina Laredo because I can barely give this review a two star. We stood up front waiting for a hostess. Was greeted and seated quickly. Was very empty so we can't figure out why our service turned out to be so slow. Sat around waiting for our drinks to be refilled. $2.80 for tea. It's getting ridiculous to drink out. When you sit outside, your ice tends to melt quicker, but my tea and daughter's water came out with barely any ice to begin with. Chips and queso with some greasy ground beef, onions and tomato a bit over priced for $10. I ordered the mahi tacos, and my daughter ordered marinated beef taco. My fish was dry and flavorless on 2 mini rubbery taco shells. Not sure what kind of green rice we had. Guess it's "gourmet". That didn't have much flavor either. Beans were ok. $36 for 2 people. If I was the waiter, I would have noticed that we barely touched our meals and asked if there was something wrong. I saw someone else's review that said this is by far the best Mexican food in Tampa.They must not get out much. Long waits for drinks and food seemed to be all around us. People are here to shop during the day. We want to get in and out not have a long sit down dinner that lacks creativity and flavor and empties our wallets. Try one of the other restaurants at Wiregrass, leave this one at the border

I don't know what was wrong with the people who reviewed before me, but this place is EXCELLENT!!!! Maybe you guys need a few drinks, LOL! A little bit pricey yes, but my philosophy is you truly get what you pay for! My fiance had the mojito and I had the mango margarita...both perfect and I had the beef fajita tacos and my fiance had the brisket tacos....awesome and then to top it off we had the sizzling Apple pie with cinnamon ice cream and rum sauce....what a way to top off an amazing meal! This place has my vote and we will be back!! The only thing I can say is "bad" is that it is a little pricey but food is excellent.

Great authentic tasting Mexican food. Guacamole is freshly made at table side. If you get to choose your server I recommend Mattie. She is awesome I wish I could take her to every restaurant I eat at. My drink was never empty and chips always filled. Very pleasant and courteous.

Love this restaurant. The carne asada awesome and the chips and salsa are excellent. Only downside is drinks are a bit pricey, ($10 mojito?!?) and the guacamole appetizer, while excellent, is $10 just for guacamole and chips. Yes it's made from scratch but it's still just a smashed avacado and chips. They also don't have fried ice cream which is a bummer. All in all, great food and nice upscale atmosphere.

The restaurant atmosphere in the bar area is the best. It offers privacy with a booth, however you are a part of the fun at the bar. Cantina has an amazing combination of the best chips and salsa and unbelievable margaritas, the heated salsa is the best!! Service is always good and have continued to enjoy meals routinely over the years.

The place was nice...not sure what everyone else is talking about. Ya, it's a little bit more pricey than your mom and pop mexican restaurant. BUT, I'm also not getting fresh guacamole, delicious tacos barabcoa and REAL carnitas. 5 of us went last Friday, while there seemed to be a bunch of people waiting, because we didn't want to sit outside (thought it was going to rain on us), we were able to get a seat in little time. Waitress was good and service was above average our entire trip. Drinks too a little be longer than we thought they should have, but the waitress came over a couple of times to keep our water fresh and to give us updates. Drinks were good, 2 margaritas, a sangria and a beer. We all got a second round, so no complaints there. Food - GOOD...REALLY good. One of the guys we were with is Hispanic, who grew up in a traditional hispanic family, and he thinks the food is the best around. 3 of us got the various tacos dinners, good taste, good portions, and the other 2 got the Carnitas. Everyone was raving about the food and no one went home hungry or complaining they're going to have to unbuckle their belt. Prices - Ya, they're up there but I consider it worth it. Nice atmosphere, good food, good drinks, good service. I'll pay for it. Overall, while it's a little bit out of the way for us. I really liked it and I can see us taking another trip up there.

After hearing about Cantina Laredo for over a year, we visited yesterday. Beautiful and clean dining area with festive music that wasn't too loud to hear conversation. We were quickly greeted and ordered our drinks and guacamole made tableside. I originally thought it was pricy but after tasting the fresh ingredients, it was undoubtedly the best guacamole I have ever tasted. Chips were fresh and crispy and the salsas were unique. We ordered beef tacos, chicken fajitas, Poblano pepper with Picadillo and enchiladas de cangrejo. Picadillo was made with raisins and cranberries and was too sweet for my liking. When I expressed my dislike, I was immediately offered an alternative dish. I ordered the enchilada de cangrejo and found heaven on earth. Real crab meat and cheese over a bed of fresh cabbage etc covered in a light sauce that tasted like she crab soup. Outstanding! We all enjoyed every bit of our meal and will return soon. Will be trying their Wednesday margarita and appetizer deal.

Maybe it's because I'm Italian, but the one problem I've always had with salsa is that it's served cold, though my girlfriend vehemently disagrees. Luckily, Cantina Laredo understands me and has a salsa for each of us when your table gets served. Our favorite thing to do is go shopping around Wiregrass for a while and then dip inside and split an order of the fajitas. It's definitely enough for two after you've eaten all the chips in sight and they've had to cut you off. It's nice for lunch because there is always a good amount of seating available both inside and outside.

I think their website calls the food Modern Mexican but I would just call it upscale Mexican. Not your typical Mexican Restaurant, they're trying to cater to a more trendy crowd. I had the Barbacoa Tacos and enjoyed them (3 small soft tacos with rice and beans) and my wife had one of their salads. The price to food ratio was fair but not outstanding. We sat outside during a nice January evening and enjoyed the atmosphere but our server lacked personality, and wasn't very attentive. I would go back for both the interior and outdoor atmosphere but I'd rather have the Barbacoa Burrito at Chipotle if given a choice.

I enjoyed the food but it is way too expensive. The quality to price ratio just didn't measure out. If the main courses were a bit cheaper then the star value would have increased. The $10 made at your table was good, but clearly too much. Food is good so if you don't mind the price it is worth it check it out.

The service was a tad slow, but the great food more than compensated for it. We were in an appetizer mood and had several rather than a main course. We were not disappointed. I've had ceviche throughout Central and South America and the ceviche appetizer at Laredo was about the best I've ever tasted. The guacamole (prepared at the table) was equally good. The place has tastefully contemporary decor, a wide variety of tequilas, and excellent margaritas that clearly don't come from a pre-packaged mix. Looking forward to returning.

This is my first 1-star review. Not because the experience was fatal, but because they utterly fail to be what they claim to be: a "gourmet Mexican" restaurant, it is basically very expensive Mexican mall food. A brief rundown: We had to ask twice for chips while other people around us seemed to be given chips upon being seated. When they arrived, they were bland. There really isn't a great variety of Mexican food, just tacos, fajitas and enchiladas. My wife ordered one of the fresh margaritas they are supposedly known for, It was awful, not fresh or mixed right. She made a comment to the wait staff that the margarita was not mixed right and was given the brush off. My salad was OK. Cristina's tacos where OK. The beans are rice were awful. Cafeteria food is better. So again, there are worse places to eat. But I'd rather go to Taco Bell than this place. At least with Taco Bell, you get what you pay for.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere of an upscale restaurant located in the nice outdoor setting of Wiregrass can't be beat. So why the 3 stars? What the hell is "gourmet Mexican food?" I've been through the heart of Mexico (not the tourist areas), visited my Dad who works at the TX/Mexico border, and grew up in a community of migrant workers many of who came fresh from visiting their motherland. So YES, THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS... but it definitely wasn't authentic and gave a false sense of "gourmet Mexican food." I think it would have been smart to not market itself as such and rather say its an upscale, Mexican-American fushion place where you bring a date to. PYRA SAYS: For the price I paid, I could have bought a tub full of authentic and tastier Mexican cuisine.

October 16th we went to the Wiregrass Mall. Although I have been in Spring HIll for 6 years I had never been. My husband and I went on a beautiful day. Did a little shopping, I told him I was hungry. Now there isnt much in food dept that we do not like. Any type of restaurant we go to we find something good :D We were in the mood for some Latin food, we headed to Cantina Laredo. Immediately we were seated. I am in a wheelchair at this time. I told them a booth would be great I can transfer :D. We were waited on, our waitress was great. She immediately told us everything is made fresh every day. I always have to let them know I am allergic to shell fish. She made sure she told the chef so there would not be any cross contamination. :D. I ordered the MAHI MAHI TACOS , it came with LIME CILANTRO RICE, & a nice bowl of black beans. My tacos were so good. The black beans I really liked. My husband ordered a mahi sandwich with rice and another side. I did not like my rice, I am not a big fan of cilantro :D my husband liked my rice I liked his so next time we will trade rice dishes. You can tell that everything was so fresh, not frozen , not out of a bag. We tipped our waitress generously, as she made sure out glasses were filled and checked on us quite frequently. We found the price to be average with many restaurants, we did not think it was overpriced. I know lunch portions are smaller and less expensive but we saw the prices for dinner and their prices seemed same as other places. We were there for late lunch, the tacos according Dan R. was too small for him. for me they were perfect. We were especially pleased with the freshness of the food. I do have to agree with Ken D. :D have a great day............. happy eating.............

The truth is, I don't think I would want to know anyone who wouldn't be into 'gourmet Mexican'. I mean, refined exciting Mexican food? Umm, yes! Needless to say, I really want to like this place. And, I guess, I do. The issue is, 'like' is the right word. None of the food I've had is terribly exciting, or gourmet for that matter. Food seems to be prepared well and is plated cleanly, but nothing is vibrant, nothing has depth, nothing pops. I wanted smokey, spicy, layers of depth. I got, "yeah, it's good.. let's go see what's in the stores now". The service is good. I've never had anyone hover and I've never had anyone forget. The ambiance is kinda upscale/trendy/Mexican in a Disney kind of way. Which, truthfully, I'm OK with. I don't really have anything bad to say about this place, but if their food was 3/4 as good as their marketing of said food, I would probably love it.

Cantina Laredo has become one of our favorite spots. Although at first glance it may appear a bit pricey compared to other Mexican spots, the portions are large. Ordering 1 order of fajitas with table side fresh guacamole feeds two easily and will keep you under $30. Chips and salsa are free and are fresh, authentic, and tasty. As for the main dishes, they are good, but not outstanding (except for the Guacamole which is OUTSTANDING, but overpriced). Service has been better than average on all visits. I think its a stretch to call the food "gourmet", but overall, if you enjoy Mexican restaurants, I recommend it.

Fresh, great quality food and drinks. Unparralled customer satisfaction and experience. The ambiance is not that of a traditional Mexican restaurant, with a fireplace and private dining room to boot. The food on the other hand was traditional with a variety of new world Mexican cuisine. The grilled red snapper with jalapeÃ±o buerre blanc was a tantalization to the taste buds. The homemade salsas were grill roasted which gave the salsas a uniqueness I never had before. The sauces and guacamole were definitely made fresh and reminded me of the great tasting vegetables from my grandmothers garden. I can't stop writing because the experience was so extraordinary and the entire staff seemed to be everywhere and anticipated our every need. We spoke with the Gm and comended him on his well run business.

I've only visited the Tampa location once, and it was awful. I have visited the Fort Lauderdale location a few times for work related happy hours. My experiences at that location were average. The food is way overpriced, and my entree was almost inedible. Way undercooked, cold, and everything on the plate seemed to be soggy. This place might survive based on its suburban appeal to the masses, but I think the prices might turn some families off and they will become wise to the sub par food they're getting for their money. The only positive in my experience was the chips and salsa. The waiter literally wouldn't stop bringing them. At one point, my 2 buddies and I had an entire basket of chips to ourselves and there were about 5 bowls of salsa on the table. I guess that's how they justify the high prices for "gourmet" Mexican food.

How do you say this place is a rip off in spanish? The answer- Cantina Laredo! Sorry, but this is the worst restaurant in Wiregrass and that's being nice. Honestly, the problem is the price for what you get in return. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area that are much better and more traditional which won't cost you $25 per entree! Also, please don't order the guacamole that the waiters are trained to ask you for when you sit down. This is just their first rip-off opportunity and they'll seriously charge you $8 for it...probably based on the labor involved. The meals from there are simply underseasoned and overpriced. The drinks are also very expensive and if you order a mojito its not very strong, just filled with lots of syrup in a deceptively small glass...however you get a "free" sugar cane! The desserts rock though, especially the flaing apple pie but there satisfaction of a good dessert only lasts so long as the bill is next! Service is decent but it really depends on who you get, either way far below what it should be. Overall, a dissapointment so if you're visiting Wiregrass please pass on this as an option and spend your money elsewhere. Sorry, but it's the truth!

I had a lunch business meeting at this restaurant, so not my choice but I was happy to try a newer place by my house. I was so disappointed with everything but the decor. Hence one star. Table side guacamole was tasteless, chips tasted stale. My entree which was an enchilada, had an off taste- burnt and not fresh and flavorful as I had expected from a high end Mexican establishment. Back to Vallarta's. Prefer family owned fresh food at reasonable prices.

I found my first Cantina Laredo in Ft. Lauderdale several years ago and immediately became a big fan. Then I saw one in West Palm, and was struck with Cantina envy. I was delighted to find one in the Tampa Bay area (even if it's a 40 minute drive from my house in Pinellas). Cantina Laredo's sign says it is a "gourmet Mexican restaurant", and I think we can all use a little gourmet in whatever kind of food we're eating. This is a nice place to have lunch or dinner. The decor is upscale, and I've always thought it was a relaxing place to dine. Chips and two types of salsa are brought to the table after seating. They were both good; one was very fresh tasting with some roasted tomatoes or peppers in it. I was curious, so I asked the waiter if they had anything with a little more heat. He was happy to make a custom salsa for me, which had substantially more heat, but still plenty of flavor. My wife sampled their fresh, made at your table guacamole and said it was delicious. I'm a finicky eater and just can't bring myself to try it despite everyone in the world loving guacamole. For dinner, I found something close to an entree I crave from Houston's Pappasitos; shrimp wrapped in bacon with a sliver of jalapeno, broiled, and served with Chimmichurri sauce for dipping. This was very good, and highly addictive. Six or seven shrimp were served over rice. I would have eaten more, but I was full from my first order :). My wife enjoyed her entree, which at this moment, I can't recall. We will be going back to Cantina Laredo on a regular basis to try everything on the menu, it's really great place to eat!

I loved Cantina Laredo. The restaurant was very aesthetically appealing. The booths were very comfy and our waiter was attentive and helpful. I ordered the enchiladas de portabella, which was amazing. The sauce was just spicy enough and the mushrooms and cheese and peppers were cooked just right. It was kind of pricey, at $14 for my plate, but there was plenty of food and I left feeling very satisfied. The chips and salsa was also great. I really enjoyed the spicy salsa. They also offer to make guacamole at your table for you, which I didn't try but would love to. It looked delicious. Also their drinks look pricey, but yummy. I would recommend this place for people with some cash to blow, who love mexican food. Perfect date place!

OK I've seen the reviews so far and quite frankly there isn't a place in or out of Tampa that I would consider to be great Mexican with the exception of one surprising place (Mekinitas) that I have to go back to to see if it was a fluke. Anyway, back to Cantina Laredo's. Yeah, it may not be "gourmet" but the Camaron Poblano Carne Asada is really delicious and enough that my husband and I end up splitting the dish. We also really enjoy the guacamole made at the table so I think if you are going for taco's then yeah, it's probably not any different than going to any one of the 100 other mexican places in Tampa. Now as for the margarita's.... I am going to disagree with whoever said they weren't fresh or good. The margaritas are one of the major reasons we go there... They use fresh squeezed lime juice, Patron Silver... and after two of them the night turns into a party. We go at least once a month. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. I definitely think it's better than OK.

I am a frequent visitor of Cantina Laredo and am blown away about the reviews. Possibly you went into the restaurant with the wrong idea of what gourmet mexican food is. The definition says that.. Gourmet food is of the highest quality and flavor, prepared well and presented in an artful manner. They make all the sauces and salsas fresh daily which sounds like high quality to me. Every dish I have had has been arranged and presented beautifully.. in an artful manner you could say. They have plenty more than tacos and enchiladas.. I typically get either their fresh fish or carne asada steak. My wife usually gets one of the many chicken dishes they have. The items on the menu range in price from 10 to 25 dollars which to me sounds like a range that could fit everyone's budget. To those who compared it to taco bell.. well you obviously don't know what real mexican food is. You should definitely try a margarita there. I have seen the bartenders hand squeezing lemons and limes to make each margarita.. talk about fresh!

The only wow at this place is the location - at Wiregrass mall. They have a nice outside eating area. I always tend to go to places with nice outside eating areas. Seeing that I am from Chicago, that's pretty seasonal. I thought I already reviewed this place, but I guess I did not and obviously it was not that memorable. The food here is simply blah and you can really get yummier food at tons of other places. The cost of the plates were way expensive, and I am sure it was marked up since it was located at Wiregrass. There is really nothing home to write home about unless you want to complain. I really would not waste your money on this place. Well, unless you want to get margaritas. But I really did not get a chance to try them here.

Just Okay. There was nothing particularly memorable or outstanding. My only gripe was that the entree portion of fish tacos was appetizer proportion. I filled up on chips and salsa, which were very good, but would have preferred more of what I ordered and were really good. We chose this place over another more "authentic" Mexican place because in was more suitable to a vegan in our party.

Been there many times. Loved the food, but this time waiter had such a bad attitude we walked out. He litterally threw the chips and salsa on the table and put drinks down hard enough to spill them. His scowl of a face said Leave it will only get worse. We walked out rather than having it get worse. Ashame, we like the food but his attitude said don't go back. Time to find a new Mexican restaurant.

Cantina Loredo was, by far, the biggest disappointment for me here in Florida. I asked around my job to see where a good Mexican place was, as my boyfriend loves Mexican food and I wanted to surprise him with a date night. Several people recommended Cantina Loredo, so off we went! Initially, we were wowed by the ambiance. It's really quite nice inside. Unfortunately, we were only met by spotty service and extremely overpriced drinks and food, both of which were nothing special ($10 guacamole...really?). We ended up spending $75 on dinner, and we couldn't figure out how that had happened... My advice? Moe's is right around the corner. They aren't nearly as fancy, but at least they are what they are!

I have heard some good things about Cantina Laredo so I decided to check it out since my parents frequent the place, but I was disappointed when I got there and saw their menu didn't have many options besides tacos and enchiladas that looked appetizing. I decided to go with soft tacos and though it was good, I wouldn't say it was great. The rice didn't taste good at all, the refried beans were not good either. The guacamole was okay. The chips and dip were just okay, not really great. I'll try one of their other entrees sometime but I wasn't really impressed with their food.

Make sure to go over the bill so that you are actually charged for what you ordered. I have dined here many times in the past and can't recall when we have not had a problem with the service or bill. Overcharged for everything - "oops, sorry I will correct it" Never again. Goodbye Cantina Laredo......

I was so excited about a restaurant advertising "gourmet Mexican food" that I joined their e-club a week before I visited. Boy, I was sure let down! Please remove my name from the e-club. The best part of my dinner here was the Top Shelf Guacamole, which is made table-side while you watch. Pretty cool! And--no doubt--the guacamole was very tasty. Everyone at my table enjoyed trying it. I should also point out that it was free (thanks to joining the e-club). Per our waiter's suggestion, I opted for the Camaron Poblano Asada, which is grilled steak around a poblano pepper stuffed with shrimp, mushrooms, onions and monterey jack cheese. While this certainly sounds delicious, I was pretty disappointed when it arrived at the table. It was too small and its taste was just average. Priced at $22, I was hoping for something more. In the end, "gourmet Mexican food" remains only an oxymoron. Perhaps one day--somewhere, somehow--true gourmet Mexican food will be discovered. I will continue praying for that day.

Fancy feeding- well, at least in the name of Mexican cuisine. Attached to Wiregrass mall in Lutz, it is a little pricier but if you are looking for a Mexican eatery with phenomenal service aligned with sophistication in atmosphere and plating, you've hit the jackpot. They claim authenticity but I'm not sold. However, their gourmet goodies are diverse and deliciously different from your standard Mexican fare. Guacamole made tableside is worth every penny and their vegetarian Enchiladas de Avocado could even please the average carnivore.

Cantina Laredo is located within the Wiregrass Mall. It has a nice atmosphere with outdoor seating and bar. One could say it is the typical bar/grille setup at Wiregrass but serves "gourmet Mexican". The layout is nice, and has a nice feel to it,, definitely a nice place for a date. The food on the other hand is definitely not Mexican and seriously needs to get someone in their who knows how to cook Mexican. I ordered the Enchiladas Veracruz, while my wife ordered the Steak Fajitas. The Enchiladas looked amazing and came with a decent amount of food, but the food itself was not that appetizing. The enchiladas seemed too wet, and the chicken lacked any real flavor. The same could be said about my wife's dish. The steak was not seasoned or marinated and was just bland Steak, truly disappointing. The rice was also pretty bad and tasted like cheap Rice-a-Roni. No real flavor, and just artificial. To truly say this is Mexican rice is disrespectful to our neighbors down south. One positive aspect of Cantina Laredo was their salsa that came with their complementary tortillas chips. What they called "spicy" was truly flavorful. My wife and I found ourselves dipping the Steak Fajitas in the salsa for flavor. Another positive aspect was the size of their flan. I believe it was $6.95, and the waiter showed us a serving which was really great for the price. I didn't taste because I was not in the mood for more disappointment. In the end, Cantina Laredo is a nice place to take someone for "gourmet Mexican". Granted Cantina Laredo is about as Mexican as Taco Bell, but still it has a nice atmosphere. I would say it is a nice place to take someone who has IBS, but wants Mexican.
